Arya Stark continues to win points with Tywin Lannister, but has a heart-stopping moment when Petyr Baelish pays a visit to the commander. That night as rain falls, Arya repeats the names of everyone she wants to kill.
Arya watches as the Mountain chooses his latest victim. On the road together again, they ride for King's Landing.
Jon bids his friends farewell. After the two leave in search of her, Arya emerges and climbs down the ravine. Beneath a red comet looming in the sky, Bran, Hodor and Osha retrace the steps he took in his dream and discuss the falling star's portent. Viserion and Rhaegal snap and spit flame; Dany flees.
In the courtyard at Castle Black, Sam briefs Gilly on the upcoming election. One question is enough to calm her: "Do you want to see your girls again?" He assures her both Sansa and Arya are safe, and as a show of "good faith" he returns the remains of Lord Ned Stark.
In the Red Waste, Daenerys Targaryen's rider Kovarro returns on a horse given to him in the city of Qarth. But Tyrion and Bronn are rendered speechless when Pod returns with Tyrion's goldthe whores refused payment from the young squire.
Theon Greyjoy is helped off the cross by the boy who then puts the weakened Theon on a horse. Stannis reiterates that retreat isn't an option, then joins Melisandre and Selyse. She climbs the tower and lights a candle, but Brienne of Tarth misses the signal. Jaime can do little to help; with one hand, he's no longer a viable champion, especially against Cersei's choiceGregor "The Mountain" Clegane.

As Stark and Tully men are slaughtered outside the Twins, the Hound grabs a Frey banner and rides through the chaos with Arya Stark in his arms. Go to the Guide. Using his sight, Bran watches the wedding, and realizes the two were in love; the rebellion was built on a lie. "I'm not a knight, so you're not a squire," she barks. "
Still docked in King's Landing, Trystane Martell paints eye stones for Myrcella when Obara and Nym Sand enter his cabin. Brienne removes Oathkeeper, but Jaime shakes his head, "It's yours. House Baratheon is the principle house of the Stormlands and is the youngest of the noble houses. Jaime tries to goad his captor into showing him her sword skills, but she ignores him.
With Stannis Baratheon en route to King's Landing, Ser Kevan Lannister advocates that the royal family withdraw. This is our reason." They defend Tyrion's tactic for making peace, but afterwards, warn their interim leader the Masters can never be trusted.
Climbing for a view of Vaes Dothrak, Daario Naharis teases the winded Jorah he would not have the stamina for the Mother of Dragons. Arya finds herself in complete mayhem. Hoster's brother, Brynden, "The Blackfish," pushes him aside and sets the boat on fire as it disappears down the Trident.
After the ceremony, Robb reprimands his uncle for ignoring orders: Edmure attacked a mill near where Gregor Clegane was garrisoned, upending Robb's strategy to draw him out. The boy taunts Theon while he peels the skin off his pinkie finger. Stocked with interviews, storyboards, prop photos and facts from seasons past, use Making Game of Thrones to go deeper inside the epic series. Littlefinger approaches Sansa with an offer to leave, but claiming concern for his safety, Sansa tells him she'd prefer to wait.
Robb Stark, along with Catelyn, Talisa, and Edmure Tully regard the corpses of young Willem and Martyn Lannister. On this assumption, Jorah suggests they go for the White Walkers but Jon worries it will jeopardize their captured wight. Arya accuses Jaqen of lying, but he tells Arya he is "no one and that is who a girl must become." Arya follows him inside.
Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne dine together at an inn, not realizing that Petyr Baelish and Sansa Stark are eating under the same roof. He asks what is next after the Iron Throne: "You weren't made to sit on a chair in a palace." When they arrive, the red priestess leads him into a cave and takes off her robe. He then shows Sansa the flayed body of the old servant woman.
Davos Seaworth gives his report to Stannis Baratheon: Horses are dying and men are deserting. As we all know by now, the Dornish plot didnt turn out entirely as we expected or at all. Bran is distracted, however, by a dream he had of walking through the Godswood in his direwolf's body. Before leaving the whorehouse, Tyrion and Bronn usher Pod into a room for his reward. With Qhorin Halfhand already his prisoner, Rattleshirt prepares to kill Jon, but Ygritte argues convincingly that Mance Rayder will be interested in Ned Stark's bastard. Brienne of Tarth
Those left at Winterfell hear the news of Euron's ambush on Daenerys' ships. Jon is uncertain about Daenerys' decision to attack the Lannister troops there will be no one left if the living continue to kill each other but knows he cannot argue much, given his recent battle with the Boltons. Lord Frey asks what happened there and Roose tells him his bastard son Ramsay has been keeping Theon Greyjoy captive.
Tyrion Lannister and his new wife Sansa are strolling the gardens at King's Landing when Tyrion is summoned to a Small Council meeting. As he laments, the boy lights a torch and reveals they've returned to the torture chamber. Arya takes the coin purse and leaves the Hound, still pleading.
As Bran's party nears its destination, skeletal hands shoot from the ground. Ruled by an angry and ruthless man, Balon Greyjoy, and home to a collection of thieves and pirates, House Greyjoy was one of the most unlikable Great Houses in Westeros. Leaving her granddaughter, Olenna unfolds the note to find a drawing of a rose. Davos reports the news to Stannis, who then dismisses him for private time with the priestess Melisandre. The wealthy merchant leaders ask to see her dragons, but she does not reveal them. Barristan Selmy advocates the charge, but Jorah has other concerns; the masters of Yunkai have retaken control of the city, and a butcher named Cleon now occupies Astapor. Initially coy, Littlefinger promises he will. If the show had paid House Tully more attention, such as extending the Riverrun siege plot to feature in more than two episodes then maybe they would have ranked higher. More than ready to leave King's Landing, Gendry grabs his war hammer and leaves the forge. Brienne catches him and calls for help for the Kingslayer, but he corrects her: "My name is Jaime."
Arya finds Gendry repairing Beric's armor. Orell wargs into his eagle right before Jon kills him. Ser Kevan tells his brother that the Greyjoys have done them a favor by taking Winterfell-Robb has already sent men to reclaim the castle. Jaime explains that any knight can make another. When he arrives to meet his father, Balon Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands is not impressed with by the soft, overdressed man his son has become. Reconsidering, Sam decides the maesters will "make do" and find a place for all of them at the Citadel. She has been a bystander to tragedy since Ned's execution, he says. Bran wargs into Summer to investigate, but ends up jeopardizing the group and the foursome is captured. The two stare into the fire together.
Surrounded, Theon sulks in Winterfell. When the Night's Watch learns of the raid, Samwell Tarly blames himself for putting Gilly in harm's way. When Melisandre ignites the flame, Selyse has a change of heart and tries to stop the proceedings but is held back. He looks down at the infant's familiar brown eyes.
Jon's eyes, in fact. Maester Wolkan appears with a newly arrived scroll: an invitation to King's Landing.
Not planning to set foot in the capital while Cersei is queen, Sansa tasks Brienne to represent the North. Nearby, Bran listens while Rickon and Hodor sleep.

A hooded man arrives in the Winterfell courtyard, where he finds Bran Stark waiting for him. Bran sends Rodrik and his remaining troops to fight off the invaders.
Xaro walks with Dany, asking her why she desires the Iron Throne. The men maintain they were following the orders of the Lord of Light and Arya replies that her true god is death. I can't fight Robb and my father both." Theon instructs Bran to inform his people that he has yielded the castle. Olly delivers the final blow. Inquiring whether Sansa murdered Joffrey, Arya reveals he was on her list of people to kill. "This is where you'll find the man you seek." Arya knocks and asks for Jaqen H'ghar, but the man at the double doors dismisses her. Styr questions Ygritte's commitment to killing - especially when it comes to her former lover. She reminds the men Daenerys is not their queen because of her name, but because she is who they chose. Having entered the eagle's mind, Orell reports that he saw the Fist of the First Men and "dead crows." Further south, Rast tells Samwell Tarly he should stop holding the group back and die. Jaime futilely tries to pay off Locke and then jumps into the pit to get between the bear and Brienne. He presents Ellaria and her daughter to Cersei; Ellaria stares at the Mountain, shocked to see him alive. As a reward, Renly accepts Brienne's request to serve in his Kingsguard and then walks off with Catelyn. House Clegane has it all: a famous sibling rivalry, a captivating backstory (Gregor pushed Sandor into the fire when they were children, giving Sandor both his scars and his subsequent fear of fire), and a fan theory-cum-meme involving the two brothers battling it out in a trial by combat. On the beach, panicked wildlings surge towards Jon's ships. Ignoring them, Daenerys takes off in the direction of the Red Keep destroying anything and everything in her path, including the innocent civilians below. Despite the functionary's annoyance he was not informed of Jeor Mormont and Maester Aemon's passings, he allows Sam inside for a meeting with the Archmaester.
